I read all the reviews about the Amby and decided to splurge with my second child. I love it.. It did take my daughter a couple weeks to get used to sleeping in it but once she did... she was out. At 3 months old our daughter began to sleep for 7 hours straight at night.. which was wonderful, except for the breast engorgement I experienced. Yet when she woke up very hungry that issue was quickly remedied. I was prepared for at least 6 months of nights without full sleep. She is now 5 months old, and sleeps from 7 to 9 hours. I have traveled with the Amby baby, and the disassembling and reassembling was quick and easy. I have found no issue with cleaning, it is no different from stripping a crib to clean it. Aesthetics are not important, but I love seeing it in my room, because it looks peaceful and serene, most importantly, so does my daughter when she is sleeping in it.

Yes, they do sell extras of the sling part itself. I think they are usd $79? see www.amby-baby-store.com/us/index.php?c=4 I haven't tried one of these beds yet, but am looking into a used one for a second baby this fall. I will definitely be investigating the replacement parts to address the metal shaving problem! Good luck all!

cute sling thing... I always wonder though, after babies are born, they are necessarily not supposed to be in the womb anymore. Is this a sentimental attachment to womb-life that has us creating such happy places for our babies?
or maybe just that they cry less in such environments - definitely worth it.
